Club Information

Below are some very important links that have helped a great many shooters understand the basic principles to shooting. This data is a compilation of three years in air gunning. I hope you find them as interesting as I have.

Below are listed links from the very first Air Gun event in Sussex, England. The events then are much different than they are today. Back then field target shooters had low powered scopes, stock rifles, and primarily shooting in the kneeling and standing. Today, field target has evolved into a seated position with a very small amount of kneeling and standing shots. Almost a complete 180 degree turn around from what it was originally. The equipment has progressed as well. Shooters typically use anywhere from a 26 to a 50 power scope and up to a 60mm objective lens. Kill zones as a result have gotten smaller. This can also be attributed to more accurate air guns. So accurate in fact that same hole shots at 40-50 yards are achieved with regularity from a large number of veteran shooters in the sport.

It was brought up from an expert shooter that I know that bringing back the traditional way of field target to the club as an annual event could be very fun. Shooters would be using rifles with the most basic set up. No fancy scopes, no side wheels for range finding, no after market barrels or custom stocks. Instead, just a guy and his rifle...the way it used to be and what the original (back in the day) shooters went through when competing.
